Students in INTB 4030: IRM Global Destinations traveled to London and Hamburg, Germany, in the spring. In addition to viewing cultural attractions — including a “Hamilton” showing — students visited Lloyd’s of London, the center of the global risk marketplace, Gallagher Re and Cincinnati Global Underwriters in London, and Kuehne Logistics University in Hamburg.

A new speaker series, Analytics Without Borders (pictured above), educated UC students, staff, faculty and working professionals on generative AI, human capital analytics and predictions in marketing analytics in its inaugural spring sessions. Attendees heard from both Lindner and industry experts, and networked with peers and business leaders.

Bearcat Ventures, UC’s student-led, $1+ million venture fund, made its inaugural startup investments in a pair of UC-affiliated companies, Tembo and Band Connect. Bearcat Ventures (pictured above) is a center initiative comprised of the student venture fund, the Venture Research Studio — providing Pitchbook market research to UC-associated companies — and the Venture Capital Investment Competition team.

The center has been renamed thanks to the generosity of Jim Grau, BBA ’73, whose significant gift will support students in their continued development as sales professionals. The multi-faceted donation includes travel support to sales competitions with the Varsity Sales Team and updates to the Sales Lab.

The 2023 Goering Center Family & Private Business Awards honored winners (pictured above) for their application of the center’s “10 Best Practices” to make a successful difference within their businesses. Held at Hard Rock Casino in downtown Cincinnati, 60 companies and 400 attendees helped spotlight the community members driving a vibrant economy.

Author and Senior Bloomberg Washington Correspondent Saleha Mohsin engaged in a conversation with Steve Slezak, PhD, Johnson Investment Institute director, at Lindner Hall on April 8. Topics included Mohsin’s expert analysis of U.S. Treasury strategies and tactics, potential implications for current economic and investment outlooks, and recent assertions surrounding the de-dollarization of global markets.

As part of its annual James C. Kautz Lecture Series, the institute welcomed Joshua Gans, PhD, of the University of Toronto, to Lindner Hall to present his talk “How Disruptive will Artificial Intelligence Be? A Hard-Headed Approach.” An expert on AI, Gans explored its multifaceted impact on economies worldwide.

Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta President/CEO Raphael Bostic headlined the center’s March Roundtable at the Westin Cincinnati. Bostic and Gary Painter, PhD, BEARE Chair and professor of real estate, held an hour-long conversation in front of 300 attendees, including more than 80 real estate students, on equitable economic development.

The Warren Bennis Leadership Institute Summit invited regional business leaders to hear from and engage with UC alumni, executives and thought leaders on April 8 at the 1819 Innovation Hub. Panelists discussed critical competencies that today’s leaders need, their leadership development methods and obstacles faced in their personal leadership journeys.
