The Kautz-Uible Economics Institute and the Department of Economics invite undergraduate economics students to apply for various awards, scholarships and fellowships each academic year.

Below is a listing of the awards typically available in a given academic year for students major or double-majoring in economics or business economics. 

Scholarships are made available each academic year, with the application period typically closing in late February. Check back for information about applying for scholarships for the 2025-26 academic year.

Scholarship amount

$3,000 ($2,000 tuition scholarship + $1,000 for professional development). Professional development opportunities include study-abroad programs led by UC economics faculty, conference participation, educational training, etc. and must be approved by Professors Michael Jones or Debashis Pal beforehand.

Up to 12

Requirements

  • Completion of ECON 2020 or ECON 2030.
  • Economics or Business Economics major during academic year of award.
  • Participation in the Economics Society and events organized by the Kautz-Uible Economics Institute during academic year of award.
  • Maintenance of 3.5 or above GPA.

Scholarship amount

$3,000 (may be renewable for up to 3 years)

Requirements

  • First-generation college student who will be in second year of study during academic year of award.
  • Economics or Business Economics major during academic year of award.
  • Participation in the Economics Society and events organized by the Kautz-Uible Economics Institute during academic year of award.

  • Completion of ECON 1001 or ECON 1002. 
  • Economics or Business Economics major during academic year of award.
  • Maintenance of 3.2 or above GPA.

Scholarship amount
