JTM Food Group is Named Goering Center's Greater Cincinnati Family Business Hall of Fame Inductee for 2017
The University of Cincinnati’s Goering Center for Family & Private Business reveals the JTM Food Group is the 2017 Family Hall of Fame Honoree.
Cincinnati, Ohio – June 1, 2017 The Goering Center each year awards a company, family or individual with induction into Cincinnati’s exclusive Greater Cincinnati Family Business Hall of Fame. Since 2011, honorees have included LaRosa’s, The Castellini Companies, Graeter’s and now for 2017 the Goering Center names the JTM Food Group as recipient of this award. The JTM Food Group is being honored for their dedication, faith, hard work, community service, sustainability, family and commitment to excellence.
Four Maas brothers, Jack, Joe, Tony and Jerry currently own and operate this fourth generation, international food-processing company, headquartered in Harrison, Ohio. JTM is a manufacturer of foodservice, school, military, restaurant and retail food products serving markets across the globe. JTM originated as Maas Brothers Meats, founded in 1960 by Jack Maas, Sr. In 1974 the company was renamed Jack Maas Meats and then in 1980 to reflect the continued growth and diversification of the company, it became known by its present name JTM Food Group. Since the company’s inception it has remained a family affair, from JoAnn and Jack Sr. (Mom and Dad) to seven children and now inclusive of fifteen grandchildren. The family and the entire team of professionals at JTM pride themselves on delivering great tasting, high quality foods at the highest level of customer service. Now with over 400 employees and revenues of over $160 million, JTM Food Group is one of Cincinnati’s largest family owned businesses and ranks 65th on the Deloitte Cincinnati USA list of top 100 private firms.
JTM Food Group embodies a commitment to serve the communities they live and work in. The Maas family’s tithed contributions assist more than thirty organizations and numerous altruistic movements across the nation including Ruah Woods, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Wounded Warrior Project.
“JTM Food Group’s community dedication, in addition to their sustainability efforts, product innovations, growth and service to their industry,” according to Larry Grypp, president of the Goering Center, “was an integral facet reflective of receiving the Hall of Fame Induction.”
The University of Cincinnati’s Goering Center for Family & Private Business, established in 1989, is a membership group dedicated to connecting and educating businesses across Southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana. The goal of the Goering Center is bringing together regional businesses to share real-world insights, develop collaborative forums and strengthen these businesses in an effort to drive a more vibrant economy.
To select the Greater Cincinnati Family Business Hall of Fame Award, the Goering Center reviews potential recipients from all over the tristate region based on their longevity, growth, commitment to success and community involvement. The JTM Food Group will be only the fifth company to be inducted to the Goering Center Family Business Hall of Fame, joining fellow businesses: LaRosa’s (2011), The Castellini Companies (2013) and Graeter’s Ice Cream (2015).
