Dr. Newman has a BBA in Marketing from the University of Kentucky, MBA from Morehead State University, and an MA in Higher Education and a PhD in Educational Leadership from the University of Louisville. She has nearly 15 years of experience in management within both the higher education and nonprofit sectors and was recently named as a member of the Cincinnati Business Courier's Forty Under 40 class. Dr. Newman also received the Venue Magazine Civic Leadership Award in recognition of her commitment to nonprofit work. Her professional experience includes nearly a decade at the University of Kentucky Alumni Association and five years as Executive Director of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Teaching Interest
Dr. Newman enjoys leveraging her business network to assist students in obtaining internships, coops and professional positions. She likes to draw upon real-world experiences within the professional context in application to the academic setting.

Dr. Newman is focused on teaching, service and students and she fills the role of academic advisor for Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and the College Diabetes Network, as well as interim Program Director for the Circle of Excellence Honors Program. She most enjoys teaching about social entrepreneurship, civic responsibility, and helping spark an interest in students in applying their business acumen in ways that make the world a better place.

In Fall 2015, Dr. Newman was tasked with the role of redesigning the MGMT1053 course to align with the Lindner College of Business's First Year Experience. She also teaches MGMT3080 and MGMT7000, as well as coordinates BA1098 PACE Leaders.

Research Interest
Dr. Newman's research interests are related to higher education fundraising and organizational behavior topics related to the nonprofit sector. Her work has been published in Research in Higher Education and the International Journal of Higher Education as well as publications geared toward fundraising practitioners.

Direct the Circle of Excellence business honors society in the Lindner College of Business, which includes curriculum development for nearly 300 top business students.
