Dr. Newman has a BBA in Marketing from the University of Kentucky, MBA from Morehead State University, and an MA in Higher Education and a PhD in Educational Leadership from the University of Louisville. She has nearly two decades of experience in leadership within both the higher education and nonprofit sectors. She is a recipient of the  Cincinnati Business Courier's Forty Under 40 award, LEAD's Women in Leadership award, the Michael Dean EXCEL Award in Undergraduate Teaching, and the Grilliot Award for Excellence in Faculty Advising.

Teaching Interests
Dr. Newman enjoys leveraging her business network to assist students in obtaining internships, coops and professional positions. She likes to draw upon real-world experiences within the professional context in application to the academic setting.
Dr. Newman is focused on teaching, service and students and she fills the role of academic advisor for Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, College Diabetes Network, and Bearcat Fitness. she also serves as Program Director for the Circle of Excellence business honors program. Her favorite topics to teach center on nonprofit management, social impact and entrepreneurship, and civic responsibility.

Research Interests
Dr. Newman's research interests are related to higher education fundraising and organizational behavior topics related to the nonprofit sector. Her work has been published in Research in Higher Education and the International Journal of Higher Education as well as publications geared toward fundraising practitioners.

Direct the Circle of Excellence business honors society in the Lindner College of Business, which includes curriculum development for nearly 300 top business students.
