The finance department at the University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business contributes to the creation and dissemination of leading-edge knowledge, analysis, and practice in finance, real estate, and insurance and risk management by conducting high-impact original research and by providing rigorous and relevant instruction in undergraduate, master's degree, and PhD programs.

Our research

The Department seeks to be a source of high-impact scholarly research on important issues in Finance, Real Estate, Insurance, and Risk Management. Our goal is to consistently produce research that appears in the best journals in our fields. Recent research wins include: 

  • Eunjee Kwon, PhD, had her article, "Migration, Labor Markets and Housing" accepted in "Handbook of Labor, Human Resources and Population Economics" in spring 2023.
  • Annette Hofmann, PhD, published her book, “The Ten Commandments of Risk Leadership: A Behavioral Guide on Strategic Risk Management” in 2022.

The UC Real Estate Center is a resource for students and industry leaders to network and become immersed in the real estate industry. Our partnerships with organizations such as PNC and Morgan Stanley foster strong corporate engagement, allowing the Real Estate Center and our academic programs to excel. The Carl H. Lindner III Center for Insurance and Risk Management seeks to understand and improve how economies, enterprises and individuals manage risk. The Insurance and Risk Management (IRM) program provides an undergraduate major and minor to prepare students for a variety of insurance and risk management careers.
