James Evans, professor in the Department of Operations, Business Analytics, and Information Systems in the Carl H. Lindner College of Business, has written what is believed to be the first college text in the rapidly growing field of business analytics.
The book, Business Analytics: Methods, Models and Decisions, was released in early 2012 by Prentice-Hall, a division of Pearson, Inc. Written for undergraduate and introductory graduate business courses, the textook provides fundamental concepts and tools needed to understand the emerging role of business analytics within organizations.
Evans shares business analytics tools in a spreadsheet environment, as well as methods to use and interpret analytic models for making better business decisions.
As part of an overview of the emerging discipline, Evans also wrote a feature article in Decision Line, a news publication of the Decision Sciences Institute. The article, “Business Analytics: The Next Frontier for Decision Sciences” (March 2012).
Evans has authored more than 20 textbooks on quality, operations management and management science.
