The University of Cincinnati chapter of the American Marketing Association won three prestigious awards at the 2016 AMA International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans. The annual event took place on March 17-19 and hosted over 1300 students from 150 different schools. The conference featured leadership sessions for chapter leaders, keynote speakers and case competitions for AMA teams from around North America.
Six members of the UC group attended this year’s conference and were recognized for Outstanding Chapter Planning, Outstanding Fundraising and Outstanding Internal/External Communications. Each award was given based upon a strict review of chapter goals and annual performance metrics. Ten faculty advisers from various AMA schools then assessed each school’s chapter plan and annual report, and determined the winners.
“These awards place the UC AMA among the top 10% of all AMA chapters in North America” says Ric Sweeney, faculty advisor for the UC AMA and associate professor of marketing at the Lindner College of Business. “In addition, this places UC among the top 5% of all small (based on membership size) chapters nationally.”
The UC AMA campus group, which boasts 55 members, connects students with marketing professionals, offers admittance into young professional events, provides access to work on marketing projects and gives hands on experience through competitive events throughout the year.
