Adison McNeill, assistant director of undergraduate programs for Career Services in the Carl H. Lindner College of Business, landed a $500 scholarship from a proposal she wrote on advancing minority career development.

The Diversity Advancement Committee (DAC) of Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers (Midwest ACE), whose a 50-year history includes uniting professionals in collegiate career services, awarded her the scholarship for her beliefs on diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Her proposal “Relationships Matter: Partnering with Minority Career Development Institutions” aligned perfectly with the mission of our committee and organization,” wrote Aisha Ghori, a member of the DAC scholarship selection committee.

As a scholarship recipient, McNeill will present her proposal at the Midwest ACE Annual Conference on July 30-August 1, 2012, in Columbus, Ohio, where she’ll attend workshops and have the opportunity to network with professionals in the field.  She’ll also receive a year membership in the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers and serve on the Diversity Advancement Committee.

McNeill says the scholarship will allow her “to share and receive best practices on identifying, recruiting and retaining talented individuals of diverse backgrounds and bring these creative approaches back to the Lindner College of Business and partnering employers.”

As a stipulation, the Midwest ACE required applicants to either be enrolled in a graduate program or in their first year as a career services or human recourses professional.

McNeill fit both criteria, concluding a master of science degree in organizational leadership from the College of Mt. St. Joseph in May 2012, as well as a first-year employee with the Career Services team.

Through her role at the Lindner College of Business, McNeill enhances the professional acumen of nearly 2,700 students, assisting them with identifying and attaining rewarding careers. Prior to UC, she worked in the fields of diversity and inclusion, corporate recruiting and market research.
