The University of Cincinnati Center for Entrepreneurship & Commercialization (CEC) continues to celebrate after hosting a very successful city-wide networking event called FUSE. FUSE was launched to bring together entrepreneurial-minded individuals for a night of purpose-driven networking. Local startups, angel investors, venture capitalists, incubators, and UC students, were among those entrepreneurial organizations represented. Nearly 500 people registered for FUSE, 200+ UC students and 250+ community members.
The event took place on April 7th from 6-8pm at Union Hall, home to Cintrifuse, The Brandery, and CincyTech. Over $30,000 in door prizes - free products and services for startups - such as free legal and other professional services, publicity, marketing, entertainment, and more were given away to FUSE attendees.
Remarks were given by Beverly Davenport, UC Provost and Wendy Lea, CEO of Cintrifuse. The growing Cincinnati ecosystem and startup scene were emerging topics from both. A brief presentation to honor community members, recognize award winners, and provide CEC updates was given by Thomas Dalziel, and John Hill from TechStars offered an enlightening keynote address.
A Pitch Lounge, hosted by Kapture, was made available to those seeking funding for current startups or innovative ideas. All pitches were loaded to secure cloud space and sent to those FUSE attendees looking for investment opportunities. Over 30 pitches were delivered throughout the night and many more uploaded within the following 24 hours.
FUSE was organized by Thomas Dalziel, Executive Director of the CEC, his staff, and partners at Bad Girl Ventures, the Brandery, Cintrifuse, CincyTech, GCVA, HCDC, First Batch, KMK Law, Kentucky Innovation Network, the Manufactory, Monster Social Media, MORTAR, OCEAN Accelerator, OCEAN Capital, Queen City Angels, TechSolve, UpTech, West Chester Holdings, and more.
The CEC would like to thank those individuals and organizations that sponsored, donated in-kind resources, supported, marketed, or attended FUSE.
