Applying and Interviewing for Business Honors

Application process

Admission to Lindner Business Honors (LBH) is a competitive process based on a review of the whole student. Freshman applicants must have submitted a complete University of Cincinnati freshman admission application and selected a business major as your first choice (business undecided is included in this) no later than December 1.

Additionally, Lindner Business Honors seeks students who have demonstrated leadership experience throughout co-curricular activities in high school, and who articulate a compelling story in their application for admission. The middle 50% of current freshmen business honors students have a weighted high school GPA ranging from 3.97-4.34, and an ACT composite score ranging from 29-33 (SAT 1350-1510).

Interview process: frequently asked questions

What are Lindner Business Honors interviews?
Exceptional high school seniors are invited to UC's campus to learn more about our unique opportunities and to be considered for the Lindner Business Honors program.

Is there a separate application to be considered for selection?
There is no separate honors application. The UC Freshman Application (Common App) is the only application needed. The Lindner Admissions team will review all applications submitted by the December 1 deadline and extend offers to interview at the beginning of January.

Where are interviews held?
Lindner Business Honors interviews take place in the Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati, Carl H. Lindner Hall, 2906 Woodside Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45220. Parking is available in the Campus Green Garage and each family will be given one parking voucher to cover the cost of parking.

How should I dress for an interview?
The goal is business casual, confident and ready to show us your best self.

Why do I need to interview?
You have an important decision to make about college and we feel that it is important to visualize yourself as a Bearcat. You will meet with current students, faculty, and staff to see if the Lindner College of Business is a good fit for you. A face-to-face conversation gives us a chance to learn more about each other.

Who is involved in the interview process?
During your visit to campus you'll be meeting with faculty, staff and current students.

What are some tips for a successful interview?
Be yourself! Tell us about your strengths, interests and passions. Get a feel for the people you meet and ask yourself if you are comfortable and excited about being on campus. Ask lots of questions about what being an honors student at Lindner is all about. Classes? Work experience? Study abroad? Campus life? These are all great areas to explore. This will help you determine if UC and the Lindner College of Business are right for you!

Are parents involved?
After attending the welcome session, there will be a student/alumni panel for parents to attend for ~45 minutes to 1 hour.

What are the next steps?
Offers will be extended by late February. Currently, there are no wait lists for Lindner Business Honors. You will receive a decision letter either way if you interview for Lindner Business Honors.
