Although the Lindner College of Business hasn't been around for 200 years, we've certainly celebrated a number of momentous milestones within our 112-year history. Let's take a walk down memory lane.

Inaugural Business Scholars class (Named after Marvin P. Kolodzik, BBA ’59 in 2008)

2010

Broke into the Top 100 U.S. News & World Report rankings for both the full-time and part-time MBA

2011

  • College named in honor of Carl H. Lindner Jr. for his extraordinary support of the university and his legacy of entrepreneurship and excellence in business

Bearcat Launchpad, one of the nation’s first student-led business accelerator programs, takes off

  • 100% online MBA program launched

2015

Dedicated co-op services within Lindner Career Services debuted

2016

UC Board of Trustees approved a new building for the Lindner College of Business. The new building is supported by an $11 million gift by the family of the late Carl H. Lindner Jr. and American Financial Group,  Inc.

2017

Groundbreaking held for the new four story, 225,000-sq. ft. Lindner College of Business building

New Lindner Honors-PLUS Leadership

In January 2018, Daniel Gruber was appointed the new director of the Lindner Honors-PLUS (LHP) program. Former LHP Director, Jeri Ricketts, retired this past August and still continues to serve as an emerita faculty in the department of accounting. Building on LHP’s strong foundation and more than 20 years of excellence, Gruber will continue the program’s tremendous legacy of innovation and aims to co-create its future with current students, alumni, supporters and the Greater Cincinnati business community.

Empowerment Day 2018

The annual Lindner Women in Business Leadership Conference featured presentations by female business leaders and alumni, including JPMorgan Chase & Co. Global Chief Information Officer, Lori Beer; top landspeed motorcycle racer, spokesperson and former Facebook executive, Erin Sills, BA ’88; and more.

The annual Business Fellows celebration recognized the achievements of this diverse and vibrant community and inducted 24 graduating seniors into the program's alumni society. Check out a recap of this past year’s event.

Two UC Teams Earn Top Honors at Ohio Data Visualization Competition

Two Lindner teams were selected to showcase their data-driven artistic skills to attendees of the March 15, 2018 Ohio Women in Analytics Conference in Columbus, Ohio and were awarded first and second place. Lindner alumnus Dinushki De Livera (BBA ’15, MA-Econ ’16) was awarded the first-place prize for her visualization “Women of the City.” The second-place team—Pratan Hegde (MS-IS ’18), Nigel Holmes (MSIS part-time), Suneeth Nair (MS-IS ‘18) and Lakshmi Tejaswy Vuppalapati (MBA ’17)—chose a Kaggle dataset on world happiness to tell a story of how happy (or sad) the people around the world are.

Lindner MS in Information Systems Students Place 3rd in NBCUniversal Analytics Challenge

At this past April’s AIS (Association for Information Systems) Student Chapter Leadership Conference, Master of Science in Information Systems students Hansel D’Souza, Amanda Lopes, Akhil Mudgil, Nikhil Chakravarthy and Kurnool Satyam Singh took home the third prize for their analysis of how to predict which movies will be a hit or a bust.

Nick Williams Named Interim Dean of the Lindner College of Business

In May 2018, University of Cincinnati Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, Kristi A. Nelson, appointed Nicolas (Nick) Williams as interim dean of the Carl H. Lindner College of Business, as former Dean David Szymanski transitioned to the University of North Florida where he serves as president. Prior to accepting this role, Williams served as the associate dean of graduate programs at Lindner. Read the full press release.

7th annual Analytics Summit

Hosted by the UC Center for Business Analytics, the three-day event drew in more than 400 attendees and featured top speakers from companies such as Amazon, Ford Motor Company, NBC Universal, Procter & Gamble and Verizon.
