Setting the PACE
Meet our 2019 PACEsetter Honorees
Each year at the annual Cincinnati Business Achievement Awards (CBAAs), the college honors alumni who have demonstrated the ideals of professionalism, academics, character and engagement (PACE) in their professional lives. These ideals are central to the college’s curriculum, and students develop competencies in all PACE areas through coursework and professional experiences.
Christina Beer ’15 and Makeda Matthews ’14 were honored at the 34th annual CBAAs in spring 2019 for their sustained involvement with the University of Cincinnati and the broader community through volunteering. Christina serves on the Operations, Business Analytics and Information Systems Advisory Board and is a member of the UC Bicentennial Legacy committee. Beyond her IT role at GE Aviation, she is one of the lead recruiters for UC students and hosts students for company visits. Makeda has remained actively involved with Lindner’s Business Fellows program, the first and only college-administered program at an Ohio business school specifically dedicated to supporting African American, Hispanic, Latinx and Native American students. Makeda serves as a member of the Business Fellows Advisory Board, hosts students for company visits at her employer and has traveled to Toronto, Canada, with first-year students as their mentor.
Four Lindner supporters among newly-elected UC Foundation trustees
This past May 2019, the University of Cincinnati Foundation Board of Trustees elected six new trustees to its 56-member board, four of whom are alumni and supporters of the Lindner College of Business.
