Department of Operations, Business Analytics, and Information Systems

The Department of Operations, Business Analytics and Information Systems was awarded the 2019 UPS George D. Smith Prize for the department’s innovative approach to curriculum that effectively prepares students to be successful operations research and analytics professionals after graduation.

The Lindner College of Business offers nationally-recognized educational programs in operations, business analytics and information systems (OBAIS) that few other institutions can match.

Operations

Operations is about designing efficient and productive processes. Good operations management is at the core of any sustainable, thriving business - and can be the difference between losing market share and distinct competitive advantage.

In addition to our BBA Operations Management program, we also offer:

Business Analytics

There's a reason our Masters of Science in Business Analytics degree is ranked among the "Big Data Analytics Master's Degrees: 20 Top Programs" by InformationWeek and is included as one of "23 Great Schools with Master's Programs in Data Science." Students acquire the analytics, data management, and business skills that are in high demand with employers.

Our graduates are highly recruited and have taken positions at Amazon.com, eBay, PayPal, dunnhumbyUSA, IBM, McKinsey & Company, Morgan Stanley, Procter & Gamble, Yahoo!, Walt Disney, and many more.

Lindner is also home to the UC Center for Business Analytics, an academic and corporate partnership that connects students with member companies to provide experiential data analytics learning through class projects, internships, and events.

Information Systems

Students can earn Information Systems degrees and certificates at these levels:

Along with our core business curriculum that focus on business and information technology skills, students get hands-on experience with products from SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, IBM and Bluespring. Graduate students complete a six month paid internship before graduation.

Graduates of the program work at leading companies such as SAP, Citi, GE, Goldman Sachs, Ernst & Young, Convergys, HSBC and itelligence. Domestic graduate students in the IS program have a 100% job placement record.

Graduate certificates

The Department offers various certificates that can either complement an MBA or MS degree or can function as stand-alone options to gain specialized knowledge to further a career and enhance a resume. These include:

Research

The Department of Operations, Business Analytics and Information Systems takes advantage of our urban environment and the opportunity it affords for conducting applied research. Our faculty regularly publish in leading academic journals and serve in editorial positions for many of these same publications.
