The Total Quality Management Center is dedicated to teaching best-practice management principles for improving quality and performance of manufacturing, service, and nonprofit organizations; developing expertise in research; providing professional service to the national, state, and local communities; and serving as a source of expertise for training, assessment, and consulting. The Center is a Sustaining Member of the American Society for Quality.

Jim Evans was selected as a judge for the Ohip Partnership for Excellence awards in addition to his serving as a judge for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
Former doctoral student Paul Stephens (now at Bradley University), Jim Evans, and Chuck Matthews will receive theĀ 2004 Decision Sciences Institute Best Application Paper Award for 'The Small Business View of the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence.'
Jim Evans, along with co-author Bill Lindsay, received the 2003 Philip Crosby Medal from the American Society of Quality for the book The Management and Control of Quality, published by South-Western and now in its 6th edition.
