Computing Recommendations

Student Computing Recommendations

At this time, all students are strongly encouraged to have access to their own computer for the duration of all degree programs. The college provides state of the art computer labs, but lab capacity is limited and the labs cannot remain open at all times. Laptops provide the greatest access to 24x7 computing both on and off campus, enabling students to utilize the mobility of the college's wireless network. Therfore, beginning autum 2012, all Lindner College of Business students will be required to have a laptop. Please see our laptop section for more details.
The Lindner College of Business IT (LCB IT) team has developed computing standards to ensure compatibility with the college network and application software. The college and the university have established relationships with major IT vendors to make cutting-edge hardware and software available to all students.

Student Computer Purchase

The State of Ohio, the University and the College negotiate with many vendors for university equipment. Given the strong vendor relationships we have developed, we are also pleased to announce that we have negotiated special rates, when possible, for our staff, students, faculty and alumni to purchase technology equipment for personal use.

If you are a student, we highly advise you to visit the Lindner Laptop Purchase Program pages for further information. This will help to prepare you for the laptop-requirement policy for students effective autumn 2012.

Apple products

Apple has a fixed price model, meaning that prices on equipment are relatively the same if you choose to purchase at any of the Apple Stores.  For your convenience, the UC Bookstore carries a complete line of Apple products with the same academic discount as is available at the Apple Stores. Special rates and bundles are available by purchasing through the UC Bookstore as they will be able to provide you with the best deals possible.

PC products

We currently have agreements with these vendors: lenovo and Apple.

Students should visit the Lindner Laptop Purchase Program site for more details.
