Lab Policies

Advisory Notice

  • Users are responsible for reading and accepting the following Policies & Guidelines before using any of the Carl H. Lindner College of Business (LCB) Computer labs.

Lab Access

  • All CURRENTLY Registered Students, Faculty and Staff may access the LCB Computer Labs. Accounts are automatically created within 48hrs of registering for classes; no additional activation of accounts is required.
  • All LCB IT lab computers must be logged in using the student’s Central Login.
  • No students are permitted to use the LCB computer labs outside the regular lab hours. The lab hours are posted on the main page of the LCB labs web site.

Food and Drink

  • Food and drinks are prohibited AT ALL TIMES to help maintain the safety and cleanliness of the LCB IT student computer labs. If users are found to have  food and/or drinks in the lab, they will be asked to throw them away. Users not complying with this policy could be asked to leave the lab immediately and even lose their computer lab privileges.


  • You can print from anywhere on campus by going to
  • Users must have their Bearcat Campus Card in order to print. There are no exceptions.
  • Students (not Faculty/Staff) who are currently enrolled are given a free print quota of $10.00 per semester. Black and white copies are .07 each and color copies are .35 each. Please see your full policy here
  • All labs are furnished with at least one printer for student use. We strive to ensure that all of our printers are always functional and available for student use. However, due to the high use of these printers, we can only offer a limited guarantee that all printers will always be functional for printing jobs. The LCB IT department is not responsible for late assignments if printers are currently in a state of maintenance.  


  • Noise must be kept to a minimum. Neither loud conversations nor audio devices without headphones are permitted. Cellular phone use is also prohibited. Users of CD ROM drives are expected to bring their own headphones.


  • Students will be supplied with limited office supplies as a courtesy from the College of Business. Staplers and staples are not to be taken from the supply table or removed from the lab. Students that abuse these amenities will lose their lab privileges.

Computer Hardware

  • Workstations are available on a first come, first served basis. No reservations will be accepted.
  • Users are not permitted to modify lab hardware in any manner, nor to install software on lab systems. If you have a special request, please see the consultant on duty.
  • All systems are equipped with at least one form of writable, portable storage. Currently supported formats consist of either CDRW or USB ports accessible for personal thumb drives.  In order to save a document students use their provided “I Drive”. If assistance is needed with this process, please see a lab consultant.  Note: Users are not restricted from saving documents or projects locally; however, all data will be deleted when the user logs off.
  • Users are not permitted to insert physically damaged media into the drives. If you absolutely need to transfer the information from your device to a lab machine, please ask the consultant for assistance.
  • Users are required to logout after they are done using the workstation.

Exceptions or possible revisions to any of these policies are considered by LCB IT on a case-by-case basis. Contact Ms. Shannon M. Funk, Director of Information Technology at the College of Business, if you have an issue that requires an exception to one or more of these policies.

These policies are subject to revision and clarification as needs arise. You will be informed of any substantive changes when such changes occur. We believe this document will provide you and us with a firm foundation on which to build a more efficient working environment.
