Careers as a College Professor

Many of our PhD graduates choose to pursue careers as college professors. Such a career involves teaching and the conducting of research that advances the state of knowledge. The Cincinnati QA and OM PhD programs have an outstanding record of preparing students for such a career. Graduates have taken faculty positions with the University of Chicago, Southern Methodist University, The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Wake Forest, and others.

Careers in Industry

Industrial demand for the skills provided by the QA and OM PhD degree is particularly high and is expected to continue to grow. Our graduates are well prepared for careers in industry because in addition to their focused study in QA or OM, they receive a solid background in the functional areas of business. The department has strong ties with local industry through its Center for Productivity Improvement (CPI). Through CPI, both faculty and students gain valuable experience working on real business problems. Graduates have taken positions with Procter & Gamble, Mead Corp., American Airlines, Benders Consultants, and others.
