Management

The Department of Management seeks doctoral candidates with a passion for understanding how individual, group, organizational and inter-organizational phenomena affect the management of complex organizations. The overarching goal is to prepare our doctoral students for successful scholarly careers in academia. Our doctoral students develop a strong knowledge base in a variety of topics in Management, including Organizational Behavior and Theory, Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship. Faculty in the Department have varied research and teaching interests that cross these broad areas of knowledge.

The Management faculty has published in the most influential Management journals, such as the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Strategic Management Journal. Faculty members are on the Editorial Boards of prominent journals and are actively engaged in collaborations with business organizations in the region. The Management Department has strong ties with local businesses through its Goering Center for Family and Private Business and Center for Entrepreneurship Education and Research. Both centers are closely allied with the doctoral program.

We welcome applications from individuals who hold Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees from accredited colleges and who show the ability to carry on rigorous graduate study. Previous education in Management is not required for admission. Admission is based on the applicant’s undergraduate and graduate records, letters of recommendation, Graduate Management Admission Test or Graduate Record Examination scores, Statement of Purpose, and other material that indicates a strong aptitude for graduate study in Management. The Department of Management actively seeks applications from qualified minority and female candidates.
