Full-Time Curriculum for 2012-2012 Cohort

Beginning with the cohort of students entering in the Fall 2012 semester, the MA in Applied Economics degree requires the completion of 30 semester credit hours.  These 30 semester hours do not include the Basic Business Knowledge courses required of all graduate students (more information below).

Summer Semester -- 2 credits

During the summer all students will complete an applied economic research project.  This will either be completed in conjunction with an internship, or in the Masters Research Practicum course.

Econometric electives. Students will take two of the following econometric electives.

  • Advanced Statistical Models, Econ8012 / OBAIS 7042
  • Bayesian Econometrics, Econ 8013
  • Spatial Econometrics, Econ 8014
  • Panel Data Econometrics, Econ 8015

Other electives. Students would choose 4 credit hours of electives from among:

  • Topics in Macroeconomic Theory, Econ 8031
  • International Economics, Econ 8040
  • Personnel Economics, Econ 8060
  • Industrial Organization, Econ 8070
  • Urban and Regional, Econ 8080

Other electives are possible if approved by the Academic Director of the MA-Applied Economics program.

Basic Business Knowledge: All LCB graduate students are required to satisfy Basic Business Knowledge prerequisites. If students have these prerequisites prior to matriculating, they will not be required to take any additional coursework to satisfy these requirements.

Students can be admitted without these BBK prerequisites, but will have to make up any deficiencies. This coursework can either be completed in the summer preceding the start of the program or thoughout their studies.
