Business case competition a prelude to real-world consulting.

Two teams from the Lindner College of Business emerged as first- and second- place winners in the Undergraduate Entrepreneurship & Strategy Business Case Competition on May 3 and 17 at Lindner College.

Four teams of undergraduate entrepreneur majors in their senior year used strategy and business skills to advise senior executives in high-quality business case studies.

“Given that many small- and medium-sized enterprises struggle to sharpen their focus while pursuing ambitious growth objectives, this year’s competition offered students the opportunity to grapple with the challenges of diversification in the context of for-profit and non-profit organizations,” says Thomas Dalziel, assistant professor of entrepreneurship and strategic management who created the competition in 2005.

The complex issues used in this year’s case competition prepares students to serve actual clients facing similar challenges in the Small Business Institute Field Case Program, which uses students to provide pro bono consulting services to Greater Cincinnati entrepreneurial companies.
