UC Business Scholar Wins Second Place in International Scholarship Competition

Essay earns Carl H. Lindner College of Business student $2,500 for study-abroad opportunity.

Sally Amkoa, BBA '15, is a second-place winner in the 2012 International Scholarship Competition from Connect-123, a non-profit organization that arranges international internships, volunteer and study abroad programs.

The economics major, Marvin P. Kolodzik Business Scholar and Business Fellow in the Lindner College of Business will use the award to pay program fees and travel costs for an internship or volunteer opportunity in one of five destinations: Barcelona, Spain; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Cape Town, South Africa, Shanghai, China, or Dublin, Ireland.

Her entry in the first-ever competition was among 185 submissions from 34 countries and earned her $2,500. Her award-winning essay was selected for its creativity and sincerity, as well as for its use of examples on how the opportunity afforded by Connect-123 would make the world a better place.
