UC Masters of Science in Information Systems Students Place Third in the 7th International ERPsim Competition

For the third year in a row, students in the UC’s Carl H Lindner College of Business placed in the top 3 in the International ERPsim competition.  The competition features the best IS and IT graduates from 10 international finalists in a real-time business simulation game.

Lindner Master of Science in Information Systems students, Vinay Gupta, Sharan Hegde and Swaroop Wadhani went through qualifying rounds of competition to get to the final round of ten in this 7th international competition.   The trio had to manage a virtual company with ERPsim, a real-life ERP system using SAP Business Suite software, SAP HANA. Students also used SAP Lumira for data visualization and analytics to help make business decisions.

Kyle Snyder, adjunct instructor, said “I have used this game in my ERP 2 class at the University of Cincinnati for the past 3 years.  I think it is a fun way for students to learn how ERP systems work across a business's many functions.  After my class ends each spring, several students are always eager to volunteer to represent UC in the international summer competition.  This year there were so many interested students that I had to hold a Saturday "playoff" game to determine a final team of 3 to represent the university.”

The ERPsim game is used in classes year-round by members of the SAP University Alliance and the competition is hosted by the HEC Montreal business school and uses SAP software to create a sophisticated manufacturing business simulation.  The tool was developed to teach business process and SAP skills, and is used by over 150 universities in 13 countries.
