Lindner College of Business Faculty Member and Alumni took home High Honors at the 2011 Cincinnati Innovates Awards

Business analytics Associate Professor Michael Fry and alums Derek Brown and Don Hunter received awards for their innovations.

At the 2011 Cincinnati Innovates Awards held August 25, three individuals with ties to the Lindner College of Business received awards. Alumna Elizabeth Edwards, MBA ’04, moderated the event.

Michael Fry, associate professor of operations and business analytics, and his colleagues Jeff Ohlmann, professor of management sciences in the Tippie College of Business, and Matt Gibson, University of Iowa graduate research assistant, received the $10,000 CincyTech Commercialization Award for DraftOpt, a software application for fantasy sports drafts. The app uses sophisticated algorithms to assemble an unbeatable fantasy sports team roster.

Derek Brown, BBA '07, and Don Hunter, BBA '07, received the $25,000 CincyTech Commercialization Award for Accepted, a platform using the power of video and social media to improve the university admissions process.
