61st Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Addresses Goering Center Members

On September 19, 2011, Speaker of the House John Boehner spoke to approximately 150 members of the Goering Center for Family and Private Business at an Executive Luncheon Seminar on the topic of the future of American family- and privately owned businesses.

Speaker of the House John Boehner addressed members of the Goering Center for Family and Private Business on the topic of the future of American family- and privately owned businesses at the Myers Alumni Center at the University of Cincinnati. President Gregory H. Williams also shared remarks and Carl H. Lindner College of Business Dean David M. Szymanski was there to welcome Boehner, a Cincinnati native.

A member of the Republican Party, John Boehner is the U.S. Representative from Ohio's 8th congressional district, serving since 1991. As Speaker of the House, Boehner is second in line to the presidency of the United States following the Vice President.

In his remarks, Speaker Boehner also commented on the current economy, saying "We've got to get spending under control. The way to raise revenues is to get our economy moving again and get more Americans off of unemployment, off of food stamps and back to doing real work, providing for themselves and their families."

The Goering Center is a a non-profit organization at the University of Cincinnati dedicated to helping family and privately owned businesses succeed by providing them with education in the areas of succession planning, leadership, strategic planning, and inter-family communication.
