Out of a field of over 225 prestigious centers around the world, the CEC was recognized by the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (the world’s premier academic association of entrepreneurship centers) for “Exceptional Activities in Entrepreneurship Across Disciplines.”

The Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC), the world’s premier academic association of entrepreneurship centers, recognized University of Cincinnati’s Center for Entrepreneurship & Commercialization (CEC) with an award for “Exceptional Activities in Entrepreneurship Across Disciplines” in November 2017. The CEC was selected from a field of over 225 prestigious centers around the world.

According to the GCEC’s website, the annual GCEC awards are, “designed to showcase and celebrate the very best of university entrepreneurship!” The Exceptional Activities in Entrepreneurship Across Disciplines category, “honors a center dedicated to creating, advancing, and enabling entrepreneurship education opportunities to multiple audiences across campus.”

Centers were invited to submit a nomination packet that included a description of their multidisciplinary programs along with what made these programs innovative. Centers were also asked to include a list of specific achievements along with an organizational chart and up to two other items that best reflected the programs’ outcomes. Awards were selected by a committee of judges, which primarily included past winners. Judges were asked to evaluate each nomination based on the category’s criteria. They scored each item on a five-point scale where five was exceptional.

This prestigious recognition by the GCEC is an exciting win for University of Cincinnati’s CEC, especially after the recognition they received from AACSB International, the world’s largest global education network, earlier this year.

“On the heels of our 2017 Entrepreneurship Spotlight Award in which our Entrepreneurship Program was chosen as a top 15 program across 34 countries by the AASCB, this is welcome news!” says Tom Dalziel, Executive Director of the CEC.
