"Let’s unite the best of the best..."
"Let’s unite the best of the best - the thinkers, the tinkerers, the disruptors, the dreamers, the curious and the creatives - and unleash Cincinnati’s innovation + technology agenda for what comes next."            -Next Lives Here

The University of Cincinnati is proud to organize and host the upcoming Next Lives Here Summit on October 20th. This will be a collaborative, single-day event aimed at uniting faculty and students across all UC colleges with businesses, accelerators, incubators, and entrepreneurs in and around the city of Cincinnati.

Community participants include representatives from Proctor and Gamble, Macy’s, CincyTech, MORTAR, and the Pilot Digital Innovation Lab, to name a few. UC students will be able to meet and network with major business innovators while learning more about what it takes to break through into the world of entrepreneurship.

Led by UC Chairman Rob Richardson, the Next Lives Here organizing committee includes UCRI, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Commercialization, the UC Technology Accelerator for Commercialization, and numerous deans and leaders from across UC’s colleges, who are working together to promote innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship at UC and in the Greater Cincinnati region.

The event kicks off at noon on Oct 20 with a “mix and mingle” on McMicken Commons, complete with an array of Cincinnati’s finest food trucks. After lunch, 12 student teams will meet in the Tangeman University Center (TUC) to showcase their innovative business ideas to a panel of Cincinnati industry leaders. The Spark UC final pitch will also take place in TUC, where students from across colleges will be given the opportunity to solve a real-world problem facing the Cincinnati community.

Throughout the day there are two discussion panels as well as the Innovation Showcase. Discussion topics include a panel on “Uncommon Collaborations”, meant to demonstrate the value of diversity and partnerships in fostering innovation, and a disruptor’s panel, where participants will answer the question “what does it take to challenge the status quo?” UC speakers at these panels include Beverly Davenport, UC’s Interim-President, Rob Richardson, Board of Trustees Chairman, and Pat Limbach, Vice President of Research. Joining them will be several other prominent UC forces, representatives from major Cincinnati business partners, as well as Morgan Radford, a national correspondent for NBC’s Today Show.

During the Innovation Showcase, both faculty and students will demonstrate the ways that “next” truly lives at UC. Faculty and students will display their personal innovations in subjects from education to technology, and everything in between.

Come out to enjoy food, network and mingle, learn, and grow with the CEC and UC. This event is meant to engage and connect those already interested in entrepreneurship and will also inspire others to partner with innovators at UC. Full information about this event, including a schedule of events, is available here.
