HCDC is featured as this month's CEC Partner Spotlight!

UC’s Center for Entrepreneurship & Commercialization (CEC) works constantly to foster valuable networks between the University of Cincinnati (UC) and the business community in order to grow the region’s entrepreneurship ecosystem and connect entrepreneurs with the resources that they need to thrive. As is the case with each month, we want to highlight the works and successes of these valued partners through our Partner Spotlight Campaign.

This month’s showcase features HCDC, an economic development agency located in the heart of Hamilton County that helps build business and promote job creation.

Since first opening up its doors in 1989, HCDC has helped nurture over 300 resident companies, financed more than $1 billion in projects and helped grow the city’s ecosystem by attracting and creating tens of thousands of local jobs.

As part of its economic mission, HCDC has been a valued partner of the CEC on multiple occasions. In recent collaborations, HCDC has provided hands-on experiential learning opportunities and UC has supplied interns, student teams, and graduate talent to support HCDC and their clients. HCDC is a key partner in UC’s annual FUSE networking event that connects talent, investors, and entrepreneurs from the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region. In the words of Pat Longo, Executive Director, HCDC Business Center, "HCDC Business Center has grown a mutually beneficial relationship with UC since our inception in 1989 and we've enjoyed a close relationship with the Center for Entrepreneurship & Commercialization.  Our region has benefited from this powerful relationship and we look forward to growing the talent, connectivity and spirit that thrives at UC for years to come."

Over the course of its more than 30 years of service, HCDC has helped build up businesses throughout the Cincinnati area by providing three key services. Through business incubation, they help young entrepreneurs launch innovative and scalable businesses, providing coaching, programming, valuable connections and flexible work environments.

Through business lending, they finance the expansions of growing businesses through loan programs and other long-term, fixed rate financing tools. Through their service of economic development they work to strengthen communities, and help attract, retain and expand businesses by providing financing, incentives and expert technical assistance.

Coming soon for HCDC is their technology and innovation focused eKickStart event, which will see them bring together thought leaders and experts from across the region to share their experiences and provide advice to business owners over the course of a one-hour breakfast discussion to be held Nov. 18.
