John Morris Russell, conductor of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, was a guest speaker in September at the Carl H. Lindner College of Business.
At an Introduction to Innovation class, Russell explained to students how he applied entrepreneurial and leadership skills to develop new markets to expand audience participation.
Russell explained how he employs entrepreneurial skills to grow the music business by building community relationships, increasing audience subscriptions, finding new markets and encouraging patrons to provide resources so that the orchestra can thrive.
Recognized for his innovative programming, Russell reached out to engage African-Americans, educators and students to offer fulfilling musical experiences.
