  • The UC Chapter of the National Association of Women MBAs and the Cincinnati Museum Center hosts "Leadership Lessons From the Time of Cleopatra," an event including a panel discussion, reception and entrance into the Cleopatra exhibit on May 16.

The University of Cincinnati (UC) and business community are invited to attend "Leadership Lessons from the Time of Cleopatra," a panel discussion, networking reception and private showing of the exhibit, "Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt." The event will be held on Monday, May 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cincinnati Museum Center.

Sandra Heimann, vice president of American Financial Corporation and Great American Insurance Company, serves as the honorary chairperson for the leadership panel and reception, co-sponsored by the UC National Association of Women MBAs chapter, the Cincinnati Museum Center and the University of Cincinnati.

The ancient Egyptian queen was more than the temptress she's often depicted as, according to Stacey Schiff, author of "Cleopatra: A life."  She was a resourceful, disciplined and self-assured leader who "knew how to build a fleet, suppress an insurrection, control a currency and alleviate a famine." The panel discussion will highlight 2,000 year-old leadership lessons from the sole female of the ancient world to rule alone: Cleopatra.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Marianne Lewis, management professor and associate director of undergraduate programs at the UC College of Business, who will engage the following panel members.

  • Lynn Oswald, executive vice president, Lindner Center of HOPE
  • Elizabeth Edwards, MBA '04, CEO, Metro Innovation
  • Maribeth Rahe, president and CEO, Fort Washington Investment Advisors
  • Xiaojie Zavon, MS '98, co-founder, Greater Cincinnati Chinese Chamber of Commerce
