  • College of Business student organization learns from UC alumni executive at Siemens and tours the facility of a leading company in the manufacturing industry.

The University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Business chapter of APICS (Advancing Productivity, Innovation, and Competitive Success), coordinated a plant tour for operations management (OM) and industrial management (IM) students on Friday, Feb 18th. Students were joined by Amit Raturi and Ruth Seiple, professors in the UC College of Business Department of Operations and Business Analytics.

The Siemens Energy & Automation facility, located in Norwood, provides a champion example of a company investing in the local community with process improvements and technological advances that make them a leader in the production of electric motors worldwide. Managers, Tom Boyd, Yagnesh Kikaganeshwala and UC alum, Steve Kroeger explained the operations to the students as they toured the manufacturing floor. Students were afforded access to ask questions, meet employees and hear from the facility managers on what it takes to compete in today's global markets.
