UC PhD Student Takes Second Place In National 3E-Learning Competition

  • Diana Hechavarria, UC College of Business PhD Candidate in Management and Entrepreneurship, took home second place with her innovative entrepreneurial experiential exercise teaching case in the prestigious 3E-Learning competition on Jan. 14, 2011.

Diana Hechavarria, UC College of Business PhD Candidate Management and Entrepreneurship presented her innovative entrepreneurial experiential exercise teaching case in the prestigious 3E-Learning competition held during the annual meeting of the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) Jan. 14, 2011, on Hilton Head Island, SC. From over 30 submissions, she took home the second place award and $250.

Hechavarria presented her experiential case paper "Creative Problem Solving in the Global Market Context" besting entries from around the world. "Diana's presentation was outstanding," commented Charles H. Matthews, Executive Director of the UC Center for Entrepreneurship Education & Research and Hechavarria's doctoral program advisor. "The line-up of presenters was a veritable who's who of the best teachers in the field of entrepreneurship from all over the world. The caliber of the cases was the best I have seen, said Matthews, who received a 4th Place award at the 2009 3-E Learning competition for his experiential case, "The Team Toy Works Company."

The 3E-Learning program is designed to develop a national and international community of educators, practitioners and researchers that collaborate through submitting entrepreneurial experiential ideas, creating tools that support propagating of new knowledge, skills, and experience in the entrepreneurship education. The 3E-Learning web site is designed to allow the community to monitor and establish a quality stamp for entrepreneurial experiential exercises that can be used by educators in the US and abroad. 3E-Learning is run by the Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence (CFEE) at The George Washington University, which sponsors the competition.
