  • The 26th annual Cincinnati Business Achievement Awards, Cincinnati's longest-standing event recognizing achievement in business and service to the community, will be presented on Tuesday, March 1, 2011.

Business alumni will be recognized for a commitment to achievement and service at the 26th annual Cincinnati Business Achievement Awards (CBAA) on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. The University of Cincinnati's College of Business Alumni Board of Governors presents the CBAA event, Cincinnati's longest-standing event recognizing achievement in business and service to the community.

Each year, the College of Business Board of Governors selects outstanding alumni who are making an impact in the Cincinnati community and the global business world. The 2011 awards will be no exception. Awards presented include Outstanding Business Achievement, Distinguished Service, Business Partnership and the Carl H. Lindner Scholarship.
The Carl H. Lindner Award for Outstanding Business Achievement is given each year to a UC College of Business graduate who best demonstrates outstanding achievement in the field of business as represented by the recipient's entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to business and community, and achievement of the highest level of success within one's profession.

This year the award is being presented to a nationally renowned economic and interest rate forecaster: Stuart G. Hoffman. Hoffman, a Pittsburgh native, graduated from UC with a masters of art in economics in 1973 and a PhD in economics in 1975 and now serves as senior vice president and chief economist of PNC Financial Services Group, Inc.
"I'm very pleased to represent all past winners of the Carl H. Lindner Award for Outstanding Business Achievement, as well as honor our impressive slate of Distinguished Service and Business Partnership award winners this year," says Honorary Chairman Tom Humes, (UC College of Business '71) president, Great Traditions Land and Development Company, and the 2007 recipient of the Carl H. Lindner Award for Outstanding Business Achievement.

"This unique celebration will truly mark a memorable moment in the rich history of the College of Business by highlighting the incredible success of our honorees, as well as the transformational impact they have had on business, our community and society.  Mr. Hoffman's acceptance of this award also helps to mark a new chapter for the College of Business, as in 2010 it has adopted the Department of Economics among its growing list of nationally recognized programs," says Humes.

The CBAA Distinguished Service Award is given on the basis of an individual's commitment to the College of Business, the University of Cincinnati as a whole, and/or the Cincinnati community. This year the recipients are Bill Keating, Jr. of Cincinnati, partner at Keating Muething & Klekamp PLL, and Ellen van der Horst of Blue Ash, president of Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.

The Business Partnership Award, formerly known as the Cooperative Education Partnership Award, is given to a company that has provided substantial support to the UC College of Business. Cintas Corporation, the 2011 recipient company, is recognized for its significant, innovative and ongoing investment in sustaining exceptional college programs and providing growth opportunities for business students and graduates.

Finally, the Carl H. Lindner Scholarship will be presented to a UC marketing student who embraces the ideals of the CBAA. This year, Alex Spidare of Hudson, OH will receive the Carl H. Lindner Scholarship in recognition of his outstanding academic achievement and commitment to community involvement.
