  • UC College of Business professor Elaine Hollensbe and her colleagues will again be honored for their Academy of Management Journal article.

Elaine Hollensbe, associate professor of management at the UC College of Business, along with colleagues Glen Kreiner (Penn State University) and Mathew Sheep (Illinois State University), will receive the Rosabeth Moss Kanter Award for Excellence in Work-Family Research at the WorldatWork Total Rewards Conference in San Diego, California, in May 2011.

The Rosabeth Moss Kanter Award for Excellence in Work-Family Research is a partnership of the Center for Families at Purdue University, the Center for Work and Family at Boston College and the Alliance of Work-Life Progress. Named in honor of Rosabeth Moss Kanter, considered the most influential contributor to modern literature on work and family, the Kanter Award honors papers that exemplify indicators of scientific rigor, such as strong connections to theory; large, representative samples; diverse, detailed data; and creative solutions to research problems.

Hollensbe, former UC professor Kreiner and UC alumnus Sheep will be recognized for their 2009 paper, "Balancing Borders and Bridges: Negotiating the Work-Home Interface via Boundary Work Tactics," which was published in the Academy of Management Journal and selected for the Kanter Award from among approximately 2500 articles published in more than 75 scholarly journals. The team will also have the opportunity to speak on their research at the conference's "Top Ten Takeaways" session, which features findings from the year's best research.

Hollensbe, Kreiner and Sheep will also receive theĀ Owens Scholarly Achievement Award at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology annual conference in April 2011.
