  • Former FDIC chairman William Isaac will visit the College of Business on September 23, 2010, to discuss financial reform and his recent book.

On September 23, 2010, the Department of Finance and Real Estate at the University of Cincinnati College of Business will host a talk by financial expert William Isaac. Isaac will speak to a select audience about financial reform and his book, Senseless Panic: How Washington Failed America. In Senseless Panic, Isaac provides an inside account of the banking and S&L crises of the 1980s. He compares that period to the financial crisis of 2008 and recommends sweeping regulatory reforms to prevent future crises. Isaac has donated 200 copies of the book for use by College of Business students.

Isaac served as chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from 1978 through 1985. He later founded the Secura Group, a leading consulting firm providing regulatory counseling, risk management services, strategic studies, expert testimony and management consulting for financial institutions, law firms and governments. He is currently chairman of LECG Global Financial Services and non-executive chairman of the board of Fifth Third Bank.

Isaac is involved extensively in thought leadership relating to the financial services industry and policy makers worldwide. He writes frequently for The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes, The Washington Post, American Banker and other leading publications. He also testifies before Congress, contributes to CNBC and appears regularly on leading television and radio programs.
