  • The Decision Sciences Institute announced that a paper co-authored by UC College of Business team will receive the Best Interdisciplinary Research Paper Award at the upcoming Decision Sciences Institute Annual Meeting in San Diego, November 20-23, 2010.

The Best Interdisciplinary Research Paper Award will be given to two faculty and an alumnus of the College of Business: James R. Evans, QAOM professor and director of the Center for Performance Excellence; Suzanne S. Masterson, associate professor of management and doctoral program director; and Matthew W. Ford, Jr., a PhD graduate of the QAOM department who is now an assitant professor at Northern Kentucky University.

Their winning paper, "The Road to Maturity: Process Management and Integration of Strategic Human Resource Processes," investigates the influence of quality practices in process management on human resource process integration and develops propositions that view human resource process integration as a function of maturity that results from structural outcomes of process management. The work draws upon the strategic human resource management literature, the Malcolm Baldrige Award performance excellence framework and qualitative empirical data obtained from applicants to the Ohio Award for Excellence, a state-based performance excellence award administered by the Ohio Partnership for Excellence, and analyzed by the research team.
