  • UC College of Business team, Tax xPerts, won the 2010 PricewaterhouseCoopers xTax Competition, walking away with $1,000 and the chance to compete for $10,000 at the National Competition in Washington, D.C.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) held their annual xTax Competition for accounting students at the University of Cincinnati College of Business last week. The winning team, Tax Xperts, will now compete to be one of the top five teams in the country. The competition involves teams of five students developing the solution to a business problem with tax implications and making a 12-minute presentation of their solution to a team of judges. The members of the winning team are UC College of Business students Jay Khan, Maya Nilavar, Anna Kasjanica, Christine Pedersen and Kara Dadosky.

UC business students are building on the previous year's success, when team Make It Reign, comprised of Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS students, made it into the top five in the US and went to Washington DC to compete. The current year's team are all members of Beta Alpha Psi, the college's accounting and finance fraternity. They are also all accounting majors, with two sophomores, a junior and two seniors. The fact that sophomores are paired with juniors and seniors is one of the innovative aspects of the PwC xTax competition. Every team must have two sophomores and a junior. The other members can be any level, including seniors and masters students.
