The UC College of Business is pleased to welcome the Department of Economics. Previously housed within the McMicken College of Arts and Science, the economics department is known throughout the university for high-quality teaching and a commitment to research.
At the undergraduate level, the department offers a bachelor's degree in economics, which provides a solid base of arts and sciences, as well as more extensive economics coursework, and a bachelor of business administration degree in economics, which builds a strong business foundation, as students examine business functions and their interactions with economics. At the graduate level, the MA in Applied Economics combines the analytical practices of economics with a strong set of statistical and quantitative skills. The Five-Year BA/MA program allows undergraduate economics and business economics majors to earn the master's degree as a natural extension of their undergraduate work.
In addition to its wealth of expertise, the department also brings to the college the esteemed James C. Kautz Lecture in Political Economy, which recently featured Nobel Prize winner
Edward C. Prescott, W. P. Carey Chair of Economics at Arizona State University.
