  • The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame will induct UC College of Business alumnus Oscar Robertson as a member of the gold medalist 1960 U.S. Olympic basketball team.

Cincinnati basketball legend and University of Cincinnati College of Business alumnus Oscar Robertson will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame for the second time on August 13, 2010. Robertson was first inducted into the Hall of Fame as an individual in 1979, the first year he was eligible after concluding a 14-year NBA career in 1974.

The 1960 U.S. Olympic basketball team receives the honor this year as it celebrates the 50th anniversary of its triumph in Rome. Co-captained by Robertson and Jerry West and coached by the legendary Pete Newell, the "original dream team" compiled an 8-0 record at the Rome Olympic Games and won its games by an average margin of 42.4 points. Robertson and Jerry Lucas led the team in scoring with 17.0 points per game, with the team averaging 101.9 points per game. The 1960 Olympic team is also a member of the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame, inducted in 1984.
