  • Alpha Xi takes home national awards as former President elected to Supreme Council

Cincinnati, OH, August 16, 2008 ?

The University of Cincinnati's Pi Kappa Alpha Chapter was recognized recently as one of its Fraternity's top chapters at the international level. The Alpha Xi chapter was awarded its third-consecutive Robert Adgar Smythe Award on August 2, 2009. Less than ten percent of Pike's 221 chapters are recognized with such an honor. This is only the chapter's eighth Smythe award in 100 years of existence.

Former chapter president Brad Stephens, a senior in the College of Business, was also appointed as an International Vice-President to the Pi Kappa Alpha Supreme Council. Each year, only two undergraduates out of over 13,000 members in the United States and Canada are selected as International Vice-Presidents. Stephens is only the second-ever member at the University of Cincinnati's Pi Kappa Alpha chapter to be picked to serve in this capacity. "I am excited for the opportunity to serve the Fraternity as an undergraduate at the International level, particularly during a year in which our chapter celebrates its centennial anniversary," Brad said. The Supreme Council is the primary governing body of the Fraternity and provides guidance for the Fraternity between conventions. It oversees chapter expansion, leadership development and the Fraternity's educational foundation among other governance roles.
