Important Announcement: Admissions to the MS Tax program will be closed to part-time students at the end of Winter Quarter 2008. Admissions for full-time students will be closed at the end of Summer Quarter 2008. All students must complete the program by the end of Summer Quarter 2009, because University budget cuts are forcing the suspension of this program. The MS Taxation Program is a graduate program offered full-time and part-time in the evenings for those individuals who want to pursue a career in taxation. We admit students with baccalaureate degrees in business or accounting or with law degrees. The MS Taxation program is the program of choice for those who know that they would like to pursue a career in Tax or for those already working in the Tax area who would like to add to their skill set and credentials. Students who wish to be CPA Exam-ready at the end of their program can do so by using some electives to fulfill the requirements to sit for the CPA exam.
The requirements for the MS Taxation degree can be completed full-time in 4 quarters or part-time in 8 quarters.Because some electives will be offered only once a year or once every other year, a student may choose to postpone finishing their degree in order to be able to take certain electives that are offered less frequently. Also, if a course of particular interest will not be offered at another time, a student may have to take that course during their “off” quarter.
