MS-Accounting Program

The MS in Accounting Program is a degree program that satisfies the education requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination in the State of Ohio.

The MS in Accounting Program is designed for the following types of students:

    1. students with a baccalaureate degree in accounting

    2. students with a non-accounting business degree

    3. students with a non-business degree.

Students with a baccalaureate degree in Accounting are required to take 50-quarter credits of graduate courses. These students may choose from one of the following tracks:

    1. General Accounting Track

    2. Taxation Track

Students with a non-accounting business degree are required to take 56-quarter credits of graduate courses and students with a non-business degree are required to take 68-quarter credits of graduate courses.

The MS in Accounting Program at the University of Cincinnati is offered in two formats:

  1. as a Full-Time Program for students who can take 14 to 18 quarter credits of coursework per quarter
  2. as a Part-Time Program for students who are currently employed and can only take two courses per quarter in the evenings or Saturdays.

The length of the program will vary depending upon whether the student has a baccalaureate degree in accounting, a non-accounting business degree or a non-business degree.

Based on the students' previous degree, the length of the program is as follows:

Previous Degree

Full-Time

Part-Time

Accounting degree

3 quarters

6 quarters

Non-accounting business degree

8 quarters

Non-business degree

If a student does not have relevant work experience prior to entering the program, we suggest that he/she explore taking an internship during one or more quarters of the program to increase their marketability in the job market. This will increase the length of the program one to two quarters.
