Direct Program Admission

  • Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree equivalent to a U.S. based bachelor's degree.
    • Applicants with a three-year bachelor's degree should visit WES's free degree equivalency tool to determine whether their degree is equivalent to a four-year degree in the U.S.
  • International applicants must also demonstrate English language proficiency. Students will do this by completing one of the following exams:
    • TOEFL: Minimums for most programs are 90 internet-based, 233 computer-based, or 577 paper-based.
    • IELTS: Minimum for most programs is 6.5.
    • Please visit the individual admission pages for the PhD, MS Information Systems and MS Business Analytics programs for their minimum score requirements.
    • If you receive a score marginally below the stated minimums, you may, in some cases, still be considered for admission if you can demonstrate language proficiency through other means, such as through an interview. Please contact the individual program to see if this is an option.
    • Do not select ELS interest in your online application if you are submitting a TOEFL/IELTS score for direct admission consideration.
  • If you meet these minimum requirements, please complete the steps outlined at http://business.uc.edu/graduate/admission.html. Note that there are separate admission pages for the PhD, MS Information Systems and MS Business Analytics programs.
    • If admitted, applicants who have received a degree in China must have their degrees verified by the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC).

Conditional Admission

Those who are not able to meet our minimum English proficiency requirements may be able to apply for conditional admission through the University of Cincinnati's partnership with ELS Educational Services, Inc. ELS Educational Services, Inc. provides intensive English training in multiple locations throughout the United States, including Cincinnati, OH.

  • Not all programs accept candidates for conditional admission. Please work with ELS directly to identify the best program options for you.
  • Conditional admission for eligible programs is granted for Fall semester. MS Accounting will accept Spring semester conditional admission applicants as well.
  • A conditional admission offer cannot be transferred to another program within the Lindner College of Business.
  • Applicants must have a 3.0 undergraduate GPA or equivalent to qualify.
  • The conditional admission application deadline for a Fall semester (August) start is December 1st of the previous year. For a Spring semester (January) start, the deadline is May 1st of the previous year.
  • Applicants who earn required English proficiency test scores, or complete ELS level 112, can be considered for unconditional admission.
  • Applicants may be required to complete prerequisite courses before admission into certain programs.
  • Deferral is permitted to the following Fall term. You must confirm your offer in order to request a deferral.
