Family and privately owned businesses have a tremendous impact on the nation's total economic climate. In fact, they account for more than half the total employment, new job creation and Gross Domestic Product.

To honor the enormous positive contributions made by family and privately owned companies, both large and small, the University of Cincinnati and the Goering Center for Family & Private Business each year presents the annual Tri-State Family and Private Business of the Year Awards.

Applicants are judged by an independent panel of judges on several of the 10 best practices of family and private businesses as defined by the Goering Center.  To view a list of best practices, click here.

Directly apply for an award for your own company or choose to nominate a customer, supplier, vendor, or any other worthy business. You may nominate more than one business.

 Three Categories:
·        0-20  years in business
·        21-49 years in business
·        Over 50  years in business

 Rules for Nominations:

1. Business must be headquartered in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana.
2. A business may be nominated by anyone, including employees and business associates,     or by self-nomination.
3. All family and private businesses are eligible.*

         *Family Owned: Business in which two or more family members who are   employed in the business, share ownership, or are primary decision makers; the family members have majority ownership; and are not publicly traded.

       *Privately Held: An individual or non-related individuals own more than 50% of the company.

4. All nominations must be received by the Goering Center by April 15, 2012.

The 2011 Greater Cincinnati Family Business Hall of Fame Award

This award recognizes companies or individuals who have made a long-term community impact, through their commitment to philanthropy, community service, growth of employment and community image.

LaRosa's, Inc. was presented the 2011 Greater Cincinnati Family Business Hall of Fame Award on August 23, 2011 at a community-wide celebration at Cincinnati Music Hall.
