A firm base of sure knowledge about your business is a necessary platform for business and succession planning.
BAP is a service offered to Goering Center members based on a survey of the three basic domains of family and private business success: Family and Shareholders, Leadership, and Business. The initial survey is completed by all those who are important to the success of your business: the owners, family employees, select non-employed family members, and key non-family executives.
BAP WILL IDENTIFY YOUR FIRM’S STRENGTHS AND OPPORTUNITIES
The unique advantage of the BAP is that not only are achievements rated along the three basic domains of business success, but each respondent is asked to rate the degree of agreement that exists in the company. The results will indicate how well your team is aligned with your company’s mission, goals, and ownership priorities.
HOW IS BAP USEFUL?
A firm base of knowledge about your family or private business is a necessary platform for strategic business planning as well as for succession planning. The BAP provides a useful, basic analysis of your company’s strengths and opportunities. But even more than the obvious uses of this assessment, it is essential for finding hidden fault lines while they are manageable.
After completing the BAP, you will receive a comprehensive report identifying strategic themes and recommendations for (1) Goering Center curriculum, (2) management discussion topics, and (3) topics that may warrant outside resources
BAP’S FOUR EASY STEPS
1. Introduction of the Business Assessment Program by Goering Center director.
2. Identify individuals who will participate in BAP.
3. Complete an anonymous and confidential online survey.
4. Goering Center compiles report and meets with the business owner(s) to review results.
“You cannot overestimate the need to plan and prepare.
In most of the mistakes I've made, there has been this common
theme of inadequate planning beforehand.
You really can't over-prepare in business!”
