  • Core Member Breakfast Seminar - Risk Identification and Contingency Planning in Family Businesses -This session will focus on how family businesses can better identify the risks unique to their business, as well as the risks common to many family businesses.  Discussions will focus not just on developing a process for identification of major risks, but also how to mitigate the risks through contingency planning and, if necessary, appropriate legal actions and documentation.  Areas to be discussed include strategic risks, operational risks, insurable (property/casualty) risks, leadership/key employee risks and contingency planning.  Brad Haas, partner at Katz Teller, Brandt and Hild, will moderate an interactive panel discussion with family business owners Tricia Smith, former owner of Queen City Reprographics and Roger Johannigman, former owner of Loveland Pet Products -- who tell their stories concerning family business catastrophes and the contingency planning and implementation necessitated for the continuation of their family firms.

  • Executive Luncheon Seminar - Professional Management Principles - Join Joni Fedders, President of Aileron, who will share the Professional Management principles that have been featured in Forbes andbroadcast on CNN Money.  This luncheon will define the role andresponsibilities of a company president and key family business leaders indeveloping and refining the direction, operation & control of a family business.  Attendees will learn the progression path, and its importance, of the president and executive management in improving their family business.  In addition, a panel of three presidents will share their experiences and insights on professional management systems and the impact that it is having on their business.
