Bachelor of Business Administration

To prepare students for the changing and competitive global business environment, the college has implemented a program featuring a foundation in liberal arts, coupled with a foreign language/global area studies/study abroad requirement, and a major in a selected business discipline. Students may elect to add a second major or an area of concentration in another discipline to enhance career opportunities. The College of Business is a leader in providing college- sponsored study abroad options. Our students are encouraged to pursue practical experience through the professional practice (co-op) program, internships, and field service projects. Students may hone their leadership skills through involvement in campus and professional activities. Graduates who complete this program will gain solid functional skills and learn to effectively implement these skills as part of an organizational process, so that they may successfully compete in today's global economic market.

The College of Business changed its curriculum effective autumn quarter, 2006. Majors are available in the following business areas: accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, information systems, international business, marketing, operations management and real estate. Concentrations in secondary areas of study are available in the eight disciplines mentioned above, as well as in management and business analytics. The College also offers the bachelor of science in industrial management degree. Options designed to appeal to the non-traditional student include a major in business administration and the ability to pursue majors in accounting and marketing in the evenings. All students enter as “pre-majors” and follow a sequence of course work designed to give them a broad background before they enter their major.

Current students who are following the previous curriculum are encouraged to meet with their academic advisor as soon as possible. The CoB advising staff is committed to working with students who are on the General Education curriculum (focus/integral concentrations) to design individual advising plans which will clarify their requirements for graduation and minimize the impact of these changes on their degree plans. Students will find printed information in the Undergraduate Programs Office, Suite 105 Lindner Hall. The Bachelor of Business Administration degree is based on the belief that graduates should be proficient in practical business skills and be able to use these skills cross-functionally within various types of organizations. The business world stresses the need for functional expertise while simultaneously restructuring itself in terms of processes rather than functions.

To prepare students for the changing business environment, the college has implemented a program with focus and integral concentrations. Graduates who complete this program will gain a solid functional skills and learn to effectively implement these skills as part of an organizational process.
