High-Impact Research: Accounting

 

The accounting faculty have varied research and related interests - including financial accounting and reporting, impacts of Sarbanes-Oxley and the PCAOB, issues related to audit market structure, auditors incentives and reputations, capital budgeting, international accounting and IFRS, lobbying and the formation of accounting standards, analysis of preferences for different accounting rules, taxation issues, informing of the accounting profession on key issues, how to best teach ethics to accounting students, indicators of solvency and fraud in nonprofit organizations, and issues related to the role of culture and strategy in determining accounting rules and practices in the USA and international markets.

Accounting faculty publish in high quality accounting journals, including The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, the European Accounting Review, Accounting Horizons, Auditing: A Journal of Theory and Practice, Journal of Accountancy, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Accounting and Business Research, International Journal of Accounting, Journal of International Accounting Research, Journal of International Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation, Journal of International Financial Management and Accounting, Nonprofit & Voluntary Sector Quarterly, Financial Accountability & Management, Journal of Taxation, Journal of Business Logistics, Advances in Accounting incorporating Advances in International Accounting, Accounting in Europe, and Issues in Accounting Education.

They also serve as reviewers and editors for many of these journals. The accounting faculty are also active in various professional associations such as the American Accounting Association, Academy of Legal Studies in Business, the European Accounting Association, the Academy of International Business, the American Institute of CPA's, and the American Taxation Association.
