Insurance and Risk Management Scholarships - UC Students

Insurance and Risk Management Scholars Program

Through endowments and on-going gifts, the University of Cincinnati Lindner College of Business provides significant scholarship support to achievement-oriented students with demonstrated superior academic and leadership abilities who are engaged in the formal study of insurance and risk management at either the undergraduate or graduate levels.  Such students will be designated as IRM Scholars and will, subject to acceptance and renewal, be able to receive scholarship support during their junior and senior years and have significant interaction with industry leaders.  Within the IRM Scholars designation, scholarship recipients will be designated as either

Cincinnati Insurance Company (CIC) Scholars,

Great American Insurance Group (GAIG) Scholars, or

The Norbert G. Backhus Scholarship recipient

Students receiving partial financial support through other internal or external scholarship programs (e.g., Kolodzik Business Scholars, Lindner College of Business Circle of Excellence) are eligible to apply; if chosen, in some select cases, scholarship awards through the IRM Scholars Program will cover the difference between tuition and the other scholarship awards.  Those students receiving full scholarship support via other programs (e.g., the Lindner Honors PLUS program) may also apply; in these cases scholarship grants through the IRM Scholars Program can be used to offset a student’s non-tuition  (e.g., housing) expenses.

The goal of the IRM Scholars Program is to encourage highly-motivated, achievement-oriented students to study and pursue careers in insurance and risk management.  Designation as an IRM Scholar is a distinctive honor reserved for only high-performance students.  As a consequence, the number of scholarships awarded each year may vary with the quality of the applicant pool, with only students who meet or exceed an absolute high level of distinction in their academic and work experiences receiving scholarships.
