Title:
Knowing Which Project Control Strategies to Implement in IT Outsourcing Projects
Description:
While there is abundant research on information systems projects that are developed in-house, very little empirical research exists in a context where information system development (ISD) projects are outsourced. Indeed, there is a growing number of outsourced ISD projects, but very little is understood about how to manage those projects that are essentially outside one’s control. Complicating the matter includes inconsistent research results around the use of control strategies for influencing successful project outcomes. One plausible reason for the mixed findings is that prior researchers examined control as the construct of interest when in fact more recent studies suggest that there may be sub-constructs that could potentially explain the inconsistent findings. This proposed research attempts to explore and empirically test this phenomenon by developing a theory-based research model of those sub-constructs.
