Michael Fry

Professional Summary
Professor Fry is an associate professor of operations and business analytics. He earned his PhD in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan. He has previously been a visiting professor in The Johnson School at Cornell University, and he is on sabbatical for the 2011-2012 academic year to the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. His research interests are in supply chain analytics, sports analytics and public policy operations. In particular, Dr. Fry applies quantitative methods to improving supply chain operations such as logistics systems and inventory planning. In public policy operations, he has examined issues related to staffing levels for first responders and improving voting operations; in sports analytics, he examines methods to improve decision making in sports with a particular emphasis on sports drafts.

Teaching Interest
  • Professor Fry teaches classes at the undergraduate, MBA and PhD levels. He most often teaches classes in supply chain management, inventory, and core operations. He has also taught in both the full-time and executive-MBA programs in The Johnson School at Cornell University. In 2006 he was awarded the inaugural Daniel J. Westerbeck Junior Faculty Teaching Award.
